Batavia, who was able to demolish Wellsville a week ago using a heavy ground attack, will look to do the same tonight as they head down to Hornell for an important league match up. The Blue Devils (1-1) are hoping to inch closer to first place with a victory over the Red Raiders (0-2) who were crushed by Livonia in Week 2 by a score of 48-6.

In their 42-point loss to the Bulldogs, Hornell struggled early. Falling behind by 28 points by the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the Red Raiders found themselves in a tough spot as they entered the final 24 minutes of the game. Unfortunately for them, things didn’t get much better as the game went on, and they lost the game by a shocking 42 points.

Ranked as a top team in the state for years, Hornell has apparently endured a steep fall from grace during the past few seasons. Since 1998, Hornell has reached a total of 12 Sectional Finals, winning 9 of them, and has also taken home 3 State Championships during that time (2009-2011). Following a string of four straight Sectional Titles from ’09-’12, however, the Red Raiders finished without a win a season ago and seem to be on pace for much of the same this year.

As far as tonight’s game is concerned, I don’t feel a lot of analysis is needed. It is my belief that if the Blue Devils are able to play up to their capability, they should roll Hornell. Give me the Blue Devils in a blowout.
