This afternoon at Falleti Ice Arena in Batavia, the Ice Devils and Fighting Irish will square off for their first of three matchups during the 2015-2016 season. A year ago, Batavia got the better of the Fighting Irish over the course of the three-game series, however this season, things could be different.

Coming into the game which begins at 3:00 pm, Notre Dame holds an unblemished record and have been one of the most impressive teams in their division thus far. Conversely, Batavia has in fact struggled at times during their first few games of the season, and must put together a complete performance this afternoon in order to defeat ND.

Leading the Irish on the stat sheet through three games has been Henrik Toiviainen (which is the hardest name to spell ever) and Ryan Webster – who have each recorded 13 points up to this point. Henrik is just behind teammate Cameron Clark (7) for the team lead in goals with six, while Webster has done a great job facilitating the puck (11 assists).

For Batavia, Cameron Ells and Sam Sallome lead the team with 3 goals a piece, while Bryce Polito is right behind with 2 of his own through the Ice Devils’ first three games.

In between the pipes this afternoon will be ND’s Ethan Conrad and either Batavia’s JT Turnbull or Connor Hyde-Hamilton (I’m expecting Hamilton). Through three games, Hamilton is 24/28 in save opportunities, while Conrad is 47/50 and has recorded one shutout.

Historically these matchups between Batavia and Notre Dame are always exciting, and I expect nothing less this afternoon.
