Here are the Finalists for the Batavia’s Best 2017 HS Football Awards:

MVP

Zach von Kramer (Pembroke RB/LB) –  2,001 rushing yards, 23 rushing TDs, 111 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs, 38 solo tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception

Ray Leach (Batavia RB/LB) – 1,134 rushing yards, 15 rushing TDs, 1,536 all-purpose yards, 28 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 2 defensive TDs

Offensive Player of the Year

Zach von Kramer (Pembroke RB) – 2,001 rushing yards, 23 rushing TDs, 111 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs

Chris McClinic (Alexander RB) – 1,900 rushing yards, 28 rushing TDs, 128 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Ray Leach (Batavia RB) – 1,134 rushing yards, 15 rushing TDs

Defensive Player of the Year

Mitch Gordon (Alexander LB) – 68 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 defensive TD

Butch Ray (Batavia DL) – 57 solo tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 6 sacks

Josh Barber (Batavia LB) – 59 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries

Special Teams Player of the Year

Chandler Baker (Batavia KR) – 662 return yards, 2 return TDs 

Alec Wagner (Batavia K) – 35 extra points made (school record), including 9 in one game (school record)

Jacob Miller (Pembroke K) – 29 extra points made

Dawson Nelson (Attica K) – 2 field goals made, 21 extra points made

Lineman of the Year

Clayton Garrett (Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen OL/DL) – 26 total tackles 

Butch Ray (Batavia OL/DL) – 57 solo tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 6 sacks

Erik Scharlau (Alexander TE/DL) – 39 solo tackles, 7 sacks, 1 safety, 1 defensive TD

Underclassman of the Year
(Sophomore and Under)

Terrez Smith (Alexander Freshman) – 962 rushing yards, 14 rushing TDs, 9 2-pt conversion runs, 15 solo tackles, 1 fumble recovery

Bryce Yockel (Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen Sophomore) – 1,393 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns

Coach of the Year 

Billy Donegan (Cal-Mum/Byron-Bergen) – Red Raiders won the Section V Class C Title

Tim Sawyer (Alexander) – Trojans made the Sectional Finals for the second-consecutive seasons
