This week there were several athletes who performed well across all of high school sports. However, I found two stood out above the rest. Here are my Athletes of the Week:
Hannah Anderson – Cal-Mum Softball
Hannah had an incredible week from the plate for the Red Raiders. Here is a brief recap:
vs Geneseo: 3/4, 2 RBI
vs York: 3/4, 1 HR, 4 RBI
vs Avon: 1/3, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored
vs Pal-Mac: 3/5, 3 runs, 1 RBI
vs Le Roy: 0/4
As you can clearly see, Anderson had an awesome week for her team. Even when she didn’t necessarily perform her best in their game against Le Roy, she found a way to make an impact on the game as the winning run scored on an attempted intentional walk of the Raiders’ slugger.
Congratulations to Cal-Mum’s Hannah Anderson – our Girls Athlete of the Week.
Mitchell Hale – Oakfield Baseball
Mitch was an on-base machine this past week for the Hornets. Here is a brief recap:
vs Lyndonville: 2/4, 1 RBI, 1 SB
vs Kendall: 4/4, 4 hits, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 5 runs scored, 1 RBI
vs Roy-Hart: 0/2, 1 BB, 1 K
vs Le Roy: 4/4, 1 run scored, 1 HBP
vs Attica: 3/4 (2 doubles), 1 run scored, 2 RBI
Accumulating an impressive 13 hits during the course of a week, including two 4/4’s, Hale was undoubtedly one of the standout performers from this past week. Going forward, if he continues to maintain this pace, he may wind up as one of the top-hitters in the league at season’s end.
Congratulations to Oakfield’s Mitchell Hale – our Boys Athlete of the Week.
