Like many local teams, the Byron-Bergen Boys Basketball team is going through a transformation this season, but still hope to compete despite many moving pieces. Here is a brief preview of their upcoming slate:

Byron-Bergen Bees

Head Coach: Roxanne Noeth

Record Last Season: 15-7

Key Players

Cameron Shenk (Senior) – Cameron is the lone returner who served as a contributor for the Bees last season. They will look for him to lead this group.

Dillon Montgomery (Senior) – Dillon will step into a big-time role as a hopeful contributor on both ends this season.

Bobby Stevens (Senior) – Bobby lost last season due to shoulder surgery, and will provide strength for this team on the defensive end.

Coach’s Outlook

“I know it sounds cliché, but we expect to compete every time we step on the floor. I won’t put a number of wins on our season, but how well we grow together will determine what that number is.

The goal is for this team to be pivotal in continuing the growth that our program has seen in the last several years under Coach Smith.

Our team is deeper than the last few years.  Obviously, we do not have (last year’s standouts) Colin (Noeth) and Brandon (Burke), nor do we have anyone near their size.

What we do have is a bunch of guys that we will look to for contributions, whether it be for scoring, defense or just rebounding.  On any given night, we could have different guys lead us, even guys off the bench.  I really love that about this year’s group.”

– Byron-Bergen HC Roxanne Noeth

Coach Noeth has spent the last few years as an assistant coach, and with the departure of the team’s previous HC, she now steps into the leading role. Stay tuned for further coverage of GR League Basketball.
