It just wasn’t meant to be for the Bees tonight, as they were unable to find their stride consistently and fell to the Lakers as a result. Although they led at various points throughout the three sets played, B-B was outmatched by Cazenovia and watched their season slowly fade away.

In the first game tonight, the Bees actually found themselves ahead 19-17 late with a chance to put away the Lakers for a 1-0 lead. However, they were unable to close it out and wound up losing 25-22.

Down 1-0 heading into the second game, B-B was in need of a major rush in order to get back into things. Mistakes had cost the Lakers in the first set, leading to the short-lived Byron-Bergen advantage, and if they were to find their way back into the game they would have to force Cazenovia into errors once again.

Although they kept it close for much of the set, the Bees could not match the Lakers performance and fell for the second game in a row by a score of 25-19. With almost all of the wind out of the sails of the B-B sideline, they would try and gather enough emotion to fight their way through the third set.

Despite their best effort, they simply could not muster what they needed in order to compete with the late surge from the Lakers, and lost game 3 25-13. The third consecutive loss marked the end of the contest as well as the end of the Bees season.

Other than the downward spiral of emotion felt with such a crushing defeat, Byron-Bergen has nothing to feel down about this year. They performed well in the clutch, and dominated several quality teams on their way to the Class C crown, as well as making it all the way to the Regional round.

Congratulations to them and their coaches for such a great season that they will never forget.
