Cal-Mum suffered an overtime loss in the Sectional Finals last season, despite entering the tournament as a mid-seed. With plenty of firepower returning, I would expect this group has goals of getting back to the Finals, and this time – winning it. However, this season, they won’t be able to do so while flying under the radar. Here is a brief preview of their upcoming slate:

Cal-Mum Red Raiders

Head Coach: Dan Dickens

Record Last Season: 17-6

Key Players

Jon Boilard (Senior) – Boilard is the top-guard for the Raiders and returns as the team’s leading scorer. If it all comes together for him this season, it could be a big year for Jon.

Ian Lenhardt (Senior) – Ian is the big man in the middle for the Raiders and will be a major obstacle for opposing teams’ post offense. He also averaged near 10 points per game last season, and looks to improve upon that mark in ’17-’18.

Vinny Molisani (Sophomore) – Vinny has been on the varsity team since eighth grade, and is experienced beyond his years. He should serve as a solid compliment to Boilard this year.

Coach’s Outlook

“This is a hardworking, great group of kids. They all know that competition brings the best out of one another in practices, so our (sessions) get pretty intense.

We have a lot of experience returning, and I believe we are going to present difficulties for teams this year. Lenhardt (is a capable scorer) down low, while Boilard and Molisani (are) able to score from the outside.”

– Cal-Mum HC Dan Dickens

The expectations for this group are high, there is no doubt about that. Stay tuned for further coverage of Livingston County League Basketball.
