Behind 24 points from starting five man Malachi Chenault, the Batavia Boys Basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season on Wednesday night with a 67-63 victory over Brighton. Also performing well for the Blue Devils in victory were youngster Tesean Ayala (18 points, 4 three-pointers) and senior PG Trevor Sherwood (16 points, nine in first quarter) who both chipped in strong offensive performances vs the Barons.
Despite the big win, though, Batavia did show an inability to close out Brighton down the stretch, as well as displaying a bit of immaturity at times which came in the form of two technical fouls, and they will need to improve upon both in order to perform to their full potential this season.
