Prior to his team’s matchup with two-seeded Avon tonight, Cal-Mum’s John Walther explained how his team is feeling heading into tonight’s matchup:

AB: Knowing how tough Avon is, perhaps better than anyone having played them already this year, what do you expect from your guys from a competitiveness standpoint tonight?

JW: “I expect the kids to come out and get right after an Avon team that we lost to in week 5.  We did not play a good football game that night and our kids are ready for a second shot at Avon.”

AB: What will be the most important factor in overcoming such a strong Braves team?

JW: “Not giving them extra possessions on offense and eliminating the big play. ”

AB: Is there anything you can take from the previous matchup that may help your effort in this game?

JW: “Yes there are a number of things that we saw on film that we worked hard on correcting this week.”

AB: Finishing up the regular season with a victory last week, do you feel you gained any momentum from that win as you head into this game?

JW: “Yes it was a very important win for us.  If we did not win we would not be playing a sectional game this week!  And it is always better to go into the post season on a positive note.”

AB: Last question, what have you been most impressed with this season, in terms of your team’s mentality on a daily basis at practice and in the games?

JW: “The ability of our kids to stay focused move on from last week (good or bad) and get ready for the next challenge in front of them. “

Tonight, Cal-Mum will try to tie their season series with the Avon Braves and move on to the next round of Sectionals. Should be fun.
