Notre Dame will undergo one of their most difficult tests of the season tonight, as they head to Clyde-Savannah for Sectionals. Before they take they field, however, head coach Rick Mancuso shared a few of his thoughts on the upcoming game:

AB: What has the temperament been like for your guys this week in practice? Are they ready to go?

RM: “We’ve had a good week of practice and really focused on our execution on both sides of the ball.”

AB: How do you expect your team to react to such an emotional setting this weekend vs a tough Clyde team?

RM: “I believe we’ll be able to handle the big game atmosphere.  It’s important to keep an even keel and not succumb to the swings of emotion that come with playing in these type of games.”

AB: Going up against such a big-bodied offensive and defensive line, how do you believe your guys up front matchup with the Eagles hogs?

RM: “Clyde Savannah is definitely big up front and has a great skill group.  We are going to have to play at a high level to compete with them from start to finish.”

AB: It is my belief that this game will be won or lost along the line of scrimmage. Do you see anything different?

RM: “Most games are won at the line of scrimmage.  We will not only have to be physical throughout but will have to win in the specials teams, turnover and penalty columns as well.”

AB: Last question, how impressed are you with your team’s ability to get to this point in the season?

RM: “I think we have grown as a team over the course of the regular season.  We have played in some big games on the road at OA, Elba, Kearney and Attica.  We think we are battle tested and have to put it all together to survive each week,  this week is no different.”

Tonight, Notre Dame will make the long trek to Clyde, hoping to return with a victory. Should be a good game.
