Behind 4-0 after two and a half innings in the Class D2 Final over the weekend, the Elba Softball team managed to forge an unforgettable comeback – and win the Title over Bradford, by a final score of 8-5. The big blow for the Lancers during their comeback came off the bat of Emily Reynolds, who drilled a three-run double down the right field line in order to put her team ahead 7-5 – which turned out to be enough for Elba.
Settling in after a slow start, Carli Bogue pitched an excellent final four innings for the Lancers in their Class D2 Title win, out dueling Bradford’s top-two pitchers – who just didn’t have enough to limit Elba on Saturday.
Wit the win, Elba moves on to the Class D crossover game, where they will face-off with Class D1 Champ Lyndonville – tonight at Batavia High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
