The Elba Football team put forth a sound performance last night in order to defeat the Oakfield Hornets in a high-scoring affair. Crossing the goal line in each quarter, the Lancers scored 14 in the first, 7 in the second, 14 in the third, and 7 in the fourth in order to walk away with the 42-18 victory.
Leading the way for Elba/B-B was running back Richard Flores, who has absolutely been running rampant throughout the GR League this season. Flores finished with 23 carries for 162 yards, 3 receptions for 40 yards, and 5 total touchdowns (4 rushing, 1 receiving). It is perhaps the most-dominant performance we have seen from a running back this year.
Also performing well for the Lancers in their win were fullback Robert Stevens (11 carries, 107 yards, 1 TD), and quarterback John Hochmuth (6/10 passing, 118 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT defensively), as well as Andrew Gottler (12 tackles). For the Hornets in the disappointing loss, quarterback Allen Chatt finished 15/27 for 184 yards and 2 TDs, while John Harris recorded 13 carries for 104 yards and a score (came on a screen pass).
With the loss Oakfield is now 2-2, while Elba sits at 3-1 heading into a tough matchup with Attica next week.
