Keep an eye out for these items this weekend:

1. Can the Notre Dame defense slow down the unstoppable force that is Jake Strzelec?

So far this season, Attica’s starting running back has been impossible to contain when healthy. Although the Irish have done a great job stopping the run, along with limiting opposing team’s passing attacks this year, I believe this week will be their toughest challenge yet.

2. Will Elba win their first ever night game played at Byron-Bergen High School?

With the bright lights being on the Lancers for the first time at BB HS, how this fairly young team reacts to such an emotional night remains to be seen. Adjusting to the excitement, and all of the fan fare that is sure to come with the game this evening, it will be interesting to see what happens.

3. Can Pembroke get their first win?

The Dragons have been held without a victory so far this season but have shown signs of breaking through as of late. Although they gave away last week’s game to Holley with several turnovers and mental mistakes, Pembroke will come into this one as hungry as ever, expecting to win.

4. Will Oakfield bounce back from two straight losses?

If you asked me three weeks ago who the second best team in the GR League was, I would have put the Hornets into that conversation. However, as OA goes into this week losing each of their past two, who they truly are remains a question to me. Squaring off with Holley tonight, Oakfield really needs a convincing win in the worst way.

5. Is Alexander for real?

Beginning the year with a tough stretch of games, the Trojans have come back as strong as ever to win two in a row, which has pushed them into the conversation of the top teams in the league. Can they keep it going versus Pembroke?
