Keep an eye out for these items this weekend:

1. Can Attica complete their undefeated season?

The Blue Devils have put together quite the run over the first six games of the 2014 season. With a tough challenge (Oakfield) coming up this weekend, it will be interesting to see if Attica can sustain their impressive play and go 7-0 heading into the Sectional round. Standing in their way will be the Hornets’ high-powered offense, who is certain to provide their opponent with all they can handle tonight.

2. Will the carry-over of emotion from last week affect the Lancers in their Week 7 match up?

With the bright lights being on the Lancers for the first time at BB HS about a week ago, I am excited to see if they can continue their momentum into this week against a tough Alexander team. Currently sharing second place in the GR, the Trojans and Lancers will duke it out tomorrow afternoon during what will be Elba’s homecoming game. A lot of excitement continues to brew in Lancer Land and I am curious as to whether or not it will have any bearing on the game.

3. Are the Blue Devils able to upset the undefeated Rams?

Batavia has had several easy games en route to their impressive 5-1 record over the season’s first six games. However, the Devils will be up against their toughest challenge yet this week, and I am curious to see how they will respond.

4. How will Oakfield, Notre Dame, Holley, and Pembroke perform this weekend?

With nothing to play for in terms of their respective postseason hopes, whether or not each of these teams come to play this week remains to be seen. Often for young kids it is difficult for them to maintain concentration in a “meaningless” game, and I expect many to struggle with that in Week 6. Those who find meaning and motivation will be the ones walking away victorious.

5. Will any big injuries effect team’s postseason chances?

With several big injuries occurring already this season, I am hoping no one goes down a week before the Sectional round. At this point of the season, you want to see a team’s best effort when they go up against their opponent, and that requires the entire roster being at full strength.
