1. Lyons recently won the Section V Tournament while Senior leader Damon Hunter was a Sophomore. At the conclusion of the tournament, he took home the MVP.
2. Although I originally believed Aumell to be one of the Lions’ top-threats, the more I have watched them I believe he may become a non-factor because of the up-tempo game that I am expecting – largely due to his lack of extended mobility. We will see, however.
3. Although I have spent limited time watching Lyons play, I believe if the Wildcats can stop Hunter, the Lyons’ offense will struggle mightily as a result. They do have talent at other positions, but Hunter really makes everything happen for them.
4. This may be the first team on their schedule all season that will match the athleticism of the Wildcats. It will be interesting to see how they respond.
5. Each side lacks a bit of discipline on defense, which I believe will make for a high-scoring game.
6. Both teams’ cheering sections appear to be relatively active, which will make the game (second of the night at Bloomfield) increasingly interesting. I’m expecting a very large and exciting crowd to go with a great basketball game.
7. The Wildcats’ last won a Section V Title in 1985 – their only boys basketball championship in school history.
