After experiencing a let-down about a week ago, the Hornets will look to rebound against a tested Alexander team who is hungry for a big win this week. Voted on by you, the fans, here is our Week 5 Game of the Week.

In order for the Trojans to pull of the mini-upset, it will take an incredibly strong effort from their defense. Using a high-volume passing attack for the entirety of the season, the Hornets have displayed the ability to chuck the ball all over the field and I expect more of the same this week.

If Alexander hopes to slow down the spread-out Hornet offense, they will have to get a top-notch effort from their linebackers and defensive backs, specifically. Displaying the potential to go for big plays in the passing game at any given time throughout a game, the Hornets will present the Alexander LBs and DBs with a tough challenge. However, if they are up to the task, I believe the Trojans will be able to impede the OA offense just enough to stick with the Hornets through four quarters.

However, this will be easier said than done for Alexander.

Provided with several offensive weapons on the outside as well as in the backfield, Oakfield has run roughshod over several opposing defenses so far this season and will likely bring another strong effort to the table tonight. Led by Sal Schwable and Trent Stack in Week 4, the Hornets’ receiving corps put on quite the display, completing several long passes, yet unable to find the end zone but once. This week, the OA wide receivers will have to build on their performance versus Elba and help their quarterback finish some drives off in the red zone by getting free off the line of scrimmage around the goal line – like Stack was able to for the lone touchdown against the Lancers.

On the other side of the ball, Oakfield will be tested with stopping the big-play ability of WR Sam Browne – who displayed incredible athleticism on a few plays last week against Holley. Along with Browne, running back Tristan Aldinger will also present a challenge for the Hornets’ defense with his supreme ability to run between the tackles. Between the duo, Oakfield will have their hands full defensively.

All in all, I expect an incredibly even contest tonight in Oakfield. With each side presenting different challenges for their opponent on both sides of the ball, it will be interesting to see which team is able to win their individual battles, and pull out the victory. Since I have to pick a winner, I have spent the time to really dive into this game, and have finally reached my decision.

Even though they let me down last week, I am sticking with the Hornets in this one.

Prediction: Oakfield 20 Alexander 12
