It’s been a long time coming for the Holley Boys Basketball team, as heading into tonight’s game vs Rochester Prep, the Hawks hadn’t posted a win in the program’s last 25+ games. However, with a victory over Prep this evening – the Hawks long-endured nightmare is now over.

They are officially in the win column.

“We’ve just continued to work hard and stick with our game plan,” commented first year head coach Wil Prince following the game. “We have been focusing on trusting each other. We took our first step forward tonight.”

With the game tied, and the ball in the Hawks possession with :09 remaining on the game clock, Prince says he drew up a play and asked his players to believe in him. Simply to be patient, and let the play develop, trusting that they were going to get what they wanted.

That’s exactly what his players did.

“They ran (the play) to perfection,” continued Prince.

Holley got the bucket they needed out of the timeout – which turned out to be the difference in the ball game. The final: 54-52.

Leading the way for the Hawks throughout the contest was senior standout Pat Bower. The Holley forward recorded 28 points, and 10 rebounds, which pushes his season point total to 76 in just four games – which includes tonight’s performance, as well as two 22-point performances which came earlier this season (Barker, Lima Christian).

“(Pat) has dedicated himself in the weight room all year,” said the Holley HC, “It has definitely paid off.”

In addition to Bower, Andrew Moseman has served as a solid counterpart to his teammate, and chipped in 11 points and 10 assists this evening vs Rochester Prep.

“Pat and Andrew haven’t come off the floor (all year),” finished Prince.

With the win, Holley is now 1-3 which includes a two-point loss to Barker. Moving forward, the Hawks look ahead to a tough road GR League matchup with Oakfield on December 13th.
