Here is my third edition of Power Rankings for the 2018 local HS Softball season.

1. CAL-MUM

Cal-Mum has a loaded roster, and their only three losses came to Avon, Way-Co, and Perry/Mt. Morris. This is the best team in the area and I expect them to prove as much during the postseason.

2. LYNDONVILLE +3

Lyndonville recently defeated Alexander in GR League play, and enters the postseason as the top-seed in their classification. They are the defending champs in Class D1.

3. ALEXANDER -1

Alexander was rolling along until a recent loss to Lyndonville set them back. They still drew the top-seed in Class C2, but expect their potential semifinal matchup to be a tough one. They will likely face Cal-Mum in the semifinals.

4. OAKFIELD -1

Oakfield is another strong team from the GR League, and is another local which I believe can compete for the Class C2 title this year. They will likely face Cal-Mum in the second round, however, a tough draw for the Hornets.

5. BATAVIA -1

Batavia put together a solid regular season under new leadership this year, but face HF-L in the first round of the Class A2 tournament. The Cougars previously defeated the Blue Devils to close out the regular season.

6. LE ROY

Le Roy seems to be playing their best softball as of late. The Knights are currently riding a three-game win streak into the Class C1 tournament.

7. ATTICA +2

Attica has won seven straight heading into their first round Class B matchup with Greece Odyssey.

8. PEMBROKE -1

Pembroke hasn’t found the win column in their last three, and are hoping to break the skid during the first round of the Class C1 tournament.

9. NOTRE DAME -1

The Irish are 2-4 over their last six games and will face rival Elba in the first round of the Class D2 tournament.

10. ELBA

The defending champs in Class D2, the Lancers have taken a significant step back this year, but hope to erase their struggles with a win over rival Notre Dame in the first round of the Class D2 tournament.

11. HOLLEY

Holley’s regular season was one of resurgence, but they face a tough matchup in the first round of the Class C1 tournament.

12. WHEATLAND-CHILI +1

After a tough start, the Wildcats posted four wins during the regular season.

13. BYRON-BERGEN -1

Byron-Bergen has lost nine in a row.

14. PAVILION -1

Pavilion captured their first win of 2018 in the last game of the regular season.

Stay tuned as the season progresses.
