It was a tough go offensively for the Le Roy Baseball team in their season-opener vs Geneseo last night, as the Knights managed just 3 hits in a 6-2 loss to the Blue Devils. Brian Linton picked up the win on the hill for Geneseo, tossing 6 innings, striking out 9, and walking just 1.
The Knights took an early-lead in this one, but during a two-run fourth inning Geneseo seized a 2-1 advantage. Tying the game at 2 a piece in their half of the fourth Le Roy was unable to keep pace with the Devils’ in the late innings, allowing 3 Blue Devil runs in the fifth, and another in the sixth. The game was stopped after 6 due to darkness.
Offensively for Geneseo in the win, Matt Robinson finished 1/3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, while Jake Young added a 1/3 day which included 2 RBI.
Defensively for Le Roy, they have a lot of work to do after committing several errors in what was a sloppy game for the Knights.
Next up for Le Roy (0-1) will be Perry/MM tomorrow night.
