Despite falling behind 7-0 late in the first quarter, the Le Roy Football team found a spark just before halftime of yesterday’s game vs Dansville – and rode it all the way to a comeback victory.

Jake Hill found Reece Tresco for a passing touchdown for the Knights’ first score – which made the score 7-6 still in favor of the Mustangs.

Following which, Le Roy capitalized off of a second half Dansville turnover and drove the length of the field for their second score, giving them their first lead at 12-7. In the fourth, LR would put the dagger in the heart of the Mustangs, as a diligent run from Knights RB Kylar LaCarte gave them some breathing room as his lone score made it 18-7 Knights.

The game would finish with LR claiming the win by the 11-point margin.

Leading the way for the Knights in the win was LaCarte, who finished with 28 carries for 149 yards and the 1 score. Gavin Cassidy also added a TD in the win.

“We just executed what we’ve been practicing,” said LR head coach Brian Herdlein following the game. “We have some young guys and it just took them a while to get used to the pace of varsity football. We executed our game plan in the second half.”

Le Roy starts the season 1-0.
