Last night in Cal-Mum, the Le Roy Boys Basketball team was able to earn a late two-point win over the Red Raiders on a clutch shot from freshman Reece Tresco.

Cal-Mum was able to open up a 10-point lead during the first half on Friday, led 34-25 at the break, and even increased that advantage to 17 early-on in third quarter. However, using a slow comeback sparked by a slew of Knights players, Le Roy was able to battle their way back within contention late in the game – and eventually things were tied with just 9 seconds to play. That was when Tresco came through for Le Roy.

Winning the game 61-59 on Tresco’s final shot, Le Roy is now 9-2 since the start of the new year and is really making a strong push towards the postseason.

Leading the Knights in the game aside from their freshman’s heroics, Tom Dunn scored 17 points, Ryan Boyce dropped 14, and Nick Egeling scored 13. Cal-Mum’s Marcus Middleton equaled Dunn’s scoring output with 17 of his own, while Shai Nelson recorded 15 for the Red Raiders in defeat.

It’s certainly been a tough go of it this year for Cal-Mum who, coming off a Boys Basketball Sectional Title in 2015, has struggled this year with so many new faces in the fold.
