Yesterday afternoon the Batavia Boys Soccer team headed down the road to Geneva for a first round Sectional game against the 2-14 Panthers. After falling behind early, the Blue Devils would come back to win in dramatic fashion.

Going down 1-0 shortly after halftime on a weak Geneva goal that came on a cheap play in front of the net, Batavia seemed to be down and out. However, Mason Leddon would quickly tie things up for the Blue Devils on a nice goal minutes later, giving the Blue Devils hope heading into the final stretch.

After the game went into overtime following a few more minutes of even play, Jeremy Boyle would find the back of the net for a solid overtime winner that advanced Batavia for the first time in years.

“The team played very well altogether,” said Boyle after the game. “In OT we stuck to fundamentals to keep the ball away from the other team. Mason Leddon did what he was supposed to do, the cross from Quinten was in a perfect place, and I just simply followed the ball to put it in the net.”
