James Cryer

Batavia Football – LB/WR

Year: Senior

Post-graduation plans: Hopes to attend the University at Buffalo to study Computer Programming or Engineering.

Favorite thing about HS sports: “Definitely between the love I have for my sports and the good times with my good friends.”

In our second installment of “Meet the Blue Devils”, we take an inside look into James Cryer’s Senior season in the Blue and White. Cryer along with his teammates have been working to continue their hot streak, and the Blue Devil linebacker discussed that effort with me last night.

AB: Currently on a two-game win streak, what are you putting toward keeping the momentum going into the next game and beyond?

JC: “I personally am putting everything into continuing this winning streak because we want to ensure a home Sectional game. That would mean the world to me and my team and would also prove to everyone that Batavia Football is back.”

AB: I’ve heard a lot of guys talk about brining Batavia ‘back’. What does being ‘back’ mean to you guys?

JC: “Just to show everyone and other teams that we are gonna be a team that is going to compete and be tough. We will refuse to lose.”

AB: Have the coaches been talking to you guys about bringing the program ‘back’?

JC: “Yes, they have.”

AB: Last question, how confident are you in your ability to win going forward?

JC: “I am very confident in myself and my entire team. I know there are going to be some tough games in the next couple weeks but I believe we can win no matter the opponent, no matter the venue.”

Will the 2014 Blue Devils the team to change the fortune of Batavia Football? Like Gunner Rapone, James Cryer certainly seems to think so.
