The Notre Dame Football team dominated Pembroke last night – winning by a final score of 34-7. On a night where his uncle was honored at halftime of the game, Jack Sutherland was the star of the show vs the Dragons.
Already enduring a fantastic season, Sutherland added to his impressive stats with a total of 250 yards rushing to go with 3 touchdowns against Pembroke. To make his stat line even more impressive, the ND running back averaged 9.7 yards per carry on Friday night.
During halftime of the game, Jack’s uncle the great Bill ‘Sudsy’ Sutherland was honored by Notre Dame for his 41 years of service to the school – which included 14 Sectional Titles as a coach across three different sports.
In addition to Sutherland’s fantastic effort, two other members of the Fighting Irish also scored rushing touchdowns, as Peter Daversa and Ethan Osbourne were both able to find pay dirt.
Defensively for the Irish, CJ Suozzi led the team with 8 combined tackles (3 assisted) – 2 of which went for a loss.
For the Dragons on Friday, Reid Miano finished 6/12 for 105 yards and a touchdown through the air, while Zack Swank was his leading receiver with 4 catches for 93 yards.
Next up for the Irish (4-0) will be an extremely tough matchup with Bishop Kearney next week. I believe it will take a miracle for Notre Dame to walk away with a win in that game, although, stranger things have happened in the sport of football.
For Pembroke (0-4), they will have a winnable matchup with the Holley Hawks in Week 5.
