After allowing an early score, the Oakfield Hornets wound up cruising to an easy victory over the Dragons on Friday night by the score of 33-6. All over the field for OA was quarterback/defensive back Allen Chatt, who put together the game of his life.

Here is Chatt’s final stat line:

PASSING: 16/19 – 199 yards – 3 touchdowns (55,17,2)

RUSHING: 8 carries – 85 yards – 1 touchdown

DEFENSE: 2 interceptions

As you can see, the Hornet’s three-year Varsity starter played with extreme confidence on Friday night and walked away with a performance he will probably never forget. Speaking with him after the game, he seemed to deflect much of the attention away from himself and onto his teammates, primarily the offensive line and Reice Woodward, who finished the game with 4 catches for 85 yards and 2 TDs (55,2).

“The offensive line played really good like we knew they would,” Chatt said, “And Reice dominated. He had like 80 yards and 2 touchdowns.”

All in all, it was a team effort for Oakfield (2-1) on Friday versus Pembroke, who now drops to 0-3. Going forward, the going will get much more manageable for the Dragons, who have faced the GR’s top 3 teams over the course of the first 3 weeks of the season. Although they have been able to score the ball early in each of their first three games, Pembroke’s inability to play with consistency has been a major problem this season. Hopefully they can find some continuity going forward and find themselves in the win column sooner rather than later.
