For the first time in two seasons, the Pavilion Baseball team earned a big victory last night in a league contest vs fellow LCAA competitor Cal-Mum – by a final score of 6-4.
In the win for the Gophers, senior Austin VanSon came up with the big hit in the top of the 7th inning, roping a 2-out 2-RBI double to give his team their first lead of the game at 6-4. That turned out to be enough for the victors, as Pavilion’s Zach Weidrich (1-0) went on to hold the Raiders in the bottom of the 7th in order to secure the victory.
Also contributing for the Gophers, senior Mat Horine finished a strong offensive day 2/4 with 2 RBI, and Kyle Campbell recorded a 2/2 night with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.
After finishing the 2016 season without a win, Pavilion begins 2017 1-0 and will look ahead to another league matchup vs Warsaw tomorrow evening.
