The Byron-Bergen Baseball team was able to overcome Pavilion yesterday evening at a neutral field, as the two teams met at Dwyer Stadium for a weekend nightcap.
Leading the Bees to victory on Saturday was Colby Pocock, who went the complete game on the mound for his team, allowing just 5 hits while striking out 5 as well. Throughout his performance, Pocock accumulated 13 ground ball outs which really helped he and his team avoid any trouble from the Gopher bats.
Offensively for the Bees in their 4-1 win, Jake Oddo and Cody Kauffman had nice 2/4 days, while Garrett Chappel also performed well by going 1/2. Austin Hynes-Fisher had the big hit for the Bees in the fifth inning, when he laced a 2-RBI double which broke the game open.
For Pavilion, Hayden Ewell went 2/3 with a double, while three other Gophers went 1/3.
Byron-Bergen/Elba is now 4-3 heading into a big week which will feature league matchup against both Lyndonville and Notre Dame, while finishing the week with another game versus Pavilion – this time under the lights at Dwyer Stadium.
Stay tuned for more results this morning.
