With a huge win over Bath this past week, Batavia will indeed go into the quarterfinals as the two seed and will face Palmyra-Macedon on Friday night at home. The Red Raiders got crushed by Waterloo last week, falling in the standings as a result, and they now sit in seventh position heading into their game against the Blue Devils.

In the other quarterfinal match up on Batavia’s side of the bracket, Penn Yan takes on Waterloo this weekend with the winner advancing to face the winner of the Blue Devils’ first round contest. In my opinion, Batavia could not have asked for a more favorable road to the finals, as Penn Yan seems to be the only worthy opponent standing in their way.

On the other side of Class B, Midlakes, Livonia, Geneva and Wayne will battle it out in order to earn a championship berth as well.

While I am without much information on Midlakes and Wayne, I find Geneva and Livonia to be the two real contenders out of this group – both of whom have already faced the Blue Devils this season. If Batavia can navigate their way past the Red Raiders and then the winner of Penn Yan – Waterloo, which I expect them to do with ease, I foresee them having a solid shot at bringing home the trophy against the Bulldogs or Panthers in the finals.

Stay tuned later this week, as we will provide you with everything you need to know about Batavia’s upcoming match up with Pal-Mac, scouting reports of the other teams the Blue Devils may face down the road, along with all of the other action around Section V Football!!
