Friday night, several local teams were unable to extend their hopes of capturing a Section V Title. Here is what took place:
Class B2 – Attica and Le Roy looking ahead to long offseason
#4 Dansville 58 #5 Attica 48
In Attica’s quarterfinal matchup last night, although it seemed as if they had gained control of the game early on during the second half, the Devils were unable to maintain their momentum and allowed the Mustangs to seize the win.
Beginning the second half with a three-point lead – following a Colden George 3-ball at the first half buzzer – Attica extended their advantage to five points after striking first during the third quarter. However, over the course of the next several minutes, Dansville hung around and eventually found themselves with a 46-45 lead with 3:30 remaining in the game.
Down the stretch, the Mustangs continued to hit their stride, and used a strong defensive effort throughout the final minutes in order to walk away with the ten-point victory.
Following the game, Attica head coach Rob Crowley mentioned how he was proud of his team.
“I’m very proud of the direction our season took after a 2-4 start,” he began. ” To bounce back and finish 13-6 was excellent. I’m sad to see our Seniors go – but excited about the direction of our future, and know these kids will build off of our accomplishments this year as we move forward.”

The Knights were unfortunate to draw a tough Cougars team during the quarterfinals and exited early as a result.

Class C1 – Pembroke falls to top seed
#1 Mynderse 61 #9 Pembroke 26
Pembroke was simply overmatched in this game and the final score reflected just that. However, the fact this team was able to resurrect their season and turn it into a success by earning a Sectional victory, is nothing short of remarkable.

Despite being behind for much of the first half on Friday, the Wildcats were able to capture a 36-34 halftime lead and used that advantage to carry their momentum into the second half – where they were able to outlast the Hornets.
“I give (OA head coach) Ryan (Stehlar) a lot of credit,” began Wheatland head coach Scott Lund following the game. “He had his boys ready to go. It was a fun atmosphere.”
Lund also mentioned his team’s upcoming matchup with #2 seed Lyons, who will present a difficult challenge for the Wildcats.
“I’m not sure if we can handle Lyons’ bigs,” he said. “We need to make some shots on Monday in order to have a chance.
