It was another close one on Tuesday night, as the Batavia Muckdogs and State College Spikes squared off in the final matchup of what was an exciting three game set between the two teams. For the third-straight game the contest turned out in the ‘Dogs favor, giving them the road sweep of their opponent.

The final score yesterday was 4-3 Batavia, with their pitching staff once again putting forth a strong effort in limiting the Spikes’ offense. ‘Dogs starter Alberto Guerrero provided another impressive performance for his team on Tuesday, hurling six quality innings while picking up the victory, allowing just one earned run, while striking out five.

The bullpen came on and followed Guerrero with scoreless ball in the seventh and eighth, but Jeremy Ovalle struggled in his attempt to pick up the save, allowing two runs before closing the door just before SC tied the score.

For Batavia in the win, first baseman Sean Reynolds, and shortstop Demetrius Sims, each performed well offensively as they both recorded multi-hit games. Sims finished with three hits, and two RBI, while Reynolds had two knocks, including a triple, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.

The Muckdogs (5-4) will enjoy a day off today before hosting Auburn on Thursday as a part of a home-and-home series which will feature one game in Batavia, and two in Auburn. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Dwyer Stadium.
