The Section V Volleyball season came to a close for all local teams this past weekend, as the three remaining squads – Le Roy, Byron-Bergen, and Notre Dame – all lost in their respective class final.

In Class C1 #1 Le Roy failed to win what would have been their fourth-straight Section V Volleyball title, as the Knights were upset in a five-set epic on Saturday (26-24, 25-20, 18-25, 24-26, 26-24) by #6 Penn Yan. Riley Pasquale, and Kayla Fussell were each named to the all-tournament team for LR.

#3 Byron-Bergen was looking for their second-straight Section V Volleyball title, but fell to #1 Cuba-Rushford in four sets (21-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-13) this past Saturday in the Class D1 Final. Anna Vurraro, and Madison Farnsworth were each named to the all-tournament team for the Bees.

Lastly, #2 Notre Dame’s Class C3 title bid fell just short, as the Irish dropped a five-set thriller to #1 Hammondsport (27-25, 23-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-18) this past Saturday. Adryona Miller, and Alexis Danosos were each named to the all-tournament team for the Irish.

Stay tuned for awards, as well as end of the season coverage – coming over the next few weeks.
