First-year Holley head coach Wil Prince couldn’t be more pumped up for the upcoming season. Beginning with Attica tomorrow afternoon, the Hawks have been flying high during their first few weeks of practice, and together, they hope to put forth a great effort this year.

“We are more than anxious to get this season started,” said Prince a couple of weeks ago. “As coaches, we are proud to say that we have a great group of football players on our team this year. They are young, ambitious, and not afraid to ‘Do Work’.”

With a bit of youth not only on the roster but throughout the coaching staff as well, the Holley football team has been working together and learning together simultaneously thus far in 2014. This season being Prince’s first as head coach, the entire staff has been trying to build a specific theme for this season:

Team.

“Before practice began, these boys were individuals,” said the first year head coach, “Each with their own strengths, fears, and perhaps even biases. But now, every time we step out onto that field, we are a team. A team that works together, trains together, eats, sleeps, and breathes football together. We will do whatever is necessary to reach our end goal – winning.”

With an attitude such as that instilled into his football team, there is no doubt the Hawks have a great chance to reach their goal to the highest extent.

“We have high expectations for ourselves,” said Prince, “But those expectations never exceed the following day. All the rest of the external stuff – what the outside world thinks of us and sometimes what we think of ourselves – doesn’t matter. We know deep in our souls that we are a team and that is what matters most. Holley Hawks Football has arrived.”

It has, and its going to be exciting. Stay tuned for all the action right here on Batavia’s Best!!
