While several athletes put on fantastic displays over the weekend, three individual performances stood out to me the most. Here are my Players of the Week:

Jake Strzelec – Attica

Attica vs Holley Strzelec falling running

Jake Strzelec was simply a beast this past Saturday in Holley. The Senior running back, breaking all sorts of tackles at the line of scrimmage, proved almost impossible to bring down versus the Hawks, and finished the contest as his team’s leading rusher. Finishing with an incredible 188 yards on only 22 carries, Strzelec also found the end zone on a long run to the right side during the first half. Continue to keep your eye out for this guy, as he will likely continue to run rough shod over defenses all season long.

Malachi Chenault – Batavia

Batavia vs Livonia Malachi out focus

Putting forth a fantastic effort on both sides of the ball, Junior WR/S Malachi Chenault lit up the football field in Livonia this past week. Finishing the game with 11 receptions, Chenault totaled 88 yards and a score versus the Bulldogs, while also making several key tackles along the outside while playing his safety position. Going forward, I expect the big play wideout to become even more of an integral piece in the Blue Devils’ offense, and may even be moved up into the box on defense more often.

Mike Shanley – Elba

Elba vs Pembroke Shanley td run

Highlighted by a ridiculous 89-yard Touchdown run during the second quarter, Elba’s Mike Shanley certainly had a weekend to remember. Shanley finished with a grand total of 199 yards rushing on just 15 carries versus Pembroke, and also scored two more touchdowns following the 89-yard scamper early on. What a day.
