Onto Week 2….

As fantasy football usually goes; players I like end up flopping, and players I didn’t like end up having a decent game. Hopefully my Week 2 Hate It or Love It doesn’t end up with mixed results like last week.

Here are the players I love this week:

QUARTERBACK:

Tampa Bay is not good. Marcus Mariota tossed 4 TDs on that team…. in the first half. Drew Brees is better than Mariota. Brees and the Saints take on that same Tampa Bay team. Hello monster game for the New Orleans Saints.

West coast teams do not fare well when traveling to the east coast. The 49ers travel to Pittsburgh, and Ben Roethlisberger is there waiting for them. San Fran looked like they didn’t lose anyone over the offseason on Monday, but I think the Vikings were more bad than the Niners were good. Big Ben also LOVES playing at home and puts up monster numbers at Heinz field (347 yards per game, 23 TDs and 4 picks at home last season).

RUNNING BACK:

Gimme the thunder and lightning tandem of Mark Ingram and CJ Spiller against the Bucs. Not much more needs to be said. If Spiller is unable to go, which it’s currently looking that way, Khiry Robinson could be a nice flex option for your team.

He won’t do much on the ground, but Lance Dunbar is a very good receiving threat out of the backfield for the Cowboys. Dunbar is the best ball catcher in Dallas’ backfield. If he hasn’t been added in your league, could be a solid pick up if you need RB depth or a flex guy.

WIDE RECEIVER:

There’s a new wideout king in the desert (if you ask me at least), and his name is John Brown. With a healthy Carson Palmer and a date with the abysmal Chicago Bears defense, I expect the second-year receiver to have a big game.

No Dez Bryant for the Cowboys means Terrance Williams is the new sheriff of receivers in town. Plus, the Eagles aren’t very good on defense and had trouble covering Roddy White and Julio Jones.

TIGHT END:

If he doesn’t get his 1,621st concussion, Jordan Cameron plays Jacksonville and he looked good last week. Enough said.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Redskins, Raiders and Jaguars are not good. Those three teams play the Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins respectively. Those matchups are as good as it gets.

Also, I really like the Titans defense against the Browns. McCown and Manziel are both atrocious, and the Titans gave Jameis Winston (who’s better than both of them) problems all day. The Titans are probably the best streaming option for the week.

Now let’s be cynical and see what players I’m not fond of this week:

QUARTERBACK:

As much as I love the man, I really think Peyton Manning is going to turn into a pile of dust at some point. He looked awful last week, and is on a short week against a good Chiefs defense in Arrowhead stadium. Obviously you’re starting him if it’s not a daily league, but there are MUCH better options if you’re playing on Fanduel or Draft Kings.

This guy is going to be a popular pick for QBs I hate all year long. Cam Newton didn’t look good against an awful Jaguars defense. If he can’t do anything against Jacksonville, he probably won’t do much against anyone else. He misses Kelvin Benjamin more than anything in the world.

RUNNING BACK:

Short week, tough defense, and he’s going to be playing injured. Not a fan of CJ Anderson this week, and that pattern could continue. Ankle and toe injuries seem to linger throughout the season, and Anderson wasn’t doing much against Baltimore last week either. If he struggles, it could be the Ronnie Hillman show in Denver. Jonathan Stewart and Lesean McCoy are also injured, so I’m not too keen on them either.

It’s already known that I’m not a fan of the Patriots backfield, but with LeGarrette Blount returning and going against the Bills defense, I think you could cut Dion Lewis and be okay without him. He’s used the same way Shane Vereen was in the offense, but Brady has other targets he likes more. Plus Blount will be getting the vast majority of carries.

WIDE RECEIVER:

With a trip to Revis Island, and maybe Alcrotraz pending health, on Monday night, I’m not liking Andre Johnson and TY Hilton this week. Hilton will reportedly be a game-time decision for Monday, which usually means you’re benching him in fantasy. Johnson looked terribly slow against the Bills. If Hilton is available on Monday night, that would mean less time matched up with Revis for Johnson, but there’s just a little too much risk for my blood in this matchup.

Similar to Andre Johnson and TY Hilton facing Revis, Brandon Marshall will be spending lots of time with Vontae Davis. Marshall is also playing with Ryan Fitzpatrick… I’ll pass on Marshall this week.

TIGHT END:

I said I loved him last week, and he ended up screwing me and countless others over. He has a bad matchup this week, and I hate his QB this week. Greg Olsen is the only true aerial threat the Panthers have. He will be covered all day long. Newton also has to face some guy named JJ Watt? I heard he’s decent.

We’re witnessing the slow death of Peyton Manning, and Owen Daniels only had two targets last week and the Broncos are at Arrowhead. Nope.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:

No Kam Chancellor the Touchdown Canceler again, and they’re playing the Packers at Lambeau. No defense scored more than 5 points there last year. The Seahawks gave up 34 to the Rams, and they have a guy who resembles Napoleon Dynamite as their QB. Aaron Rodgers does not resemble Napoleon Dynamite.

Traveling across the continent for a 1PM start on a short week and facing a very good offense. Not starting the 49ers. Nothing more needs to be said.

That’s all I have for my love/hate this week. If there’s anyone you feel I left out, hit me up on Twitter, @thebasedgarrett, and tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about or that I cost you your week 1 matchup.

Good luck this week, and don’t forget to come back next Thursday for week 3 of my Hate It or Love It.
