Today at 3:00 pm, the third edition of Batavia vs Notre Dame Hockey will take place at Falleti Ice Arena. Notre Dame will be the home team, and will also be celebrating their Senior night – as well as foreign exchange student Henrik Toiviainen, who will be heading home this June. “Unless I can lay down in front of the airplane and convince him to stay for his Senior year,” said ND head coach Marc Staley in a joking manner. Toiviainen has been one of ND’s top-skaters this season.

Leading goal scorer for the Irish Cameron Clark will miss today’s contest as he will be continuing to serve his two-game suspension – which came as a result of a skirmish he got into in ND’s game vs Geneva. Clark will be returning to the ND lineup once the postseason begins.

As far as the Sectional outlook is concerned for both teams, if the Irish win or tie tonight, the two sides will face-off for a fourth time this season in the first round of the tournament. The last time the two teams played one another in the Sectional Tournament was in 2005, according to Staley – when he was an assistant for the Irish.
