After careful deliberation, here are my top-5 teams in the GR League:
5.) Oakfield
Oakfield pulled off a big win over Attica earlier in the year, and have continued their momentum ever since. A matchup with Pembroke awaits them tomorrow – which will give them the chance to leapfrog the Dragons in the rankings.
4.) Pembroke
With a relatively easy schedule thus far, the Dragons have done just what they were supposed to do in defeating 5/6 teams thus far (lone loss to Attica). Things will begin to pick up for Pembroke, though, as their next four league games are against Oakfield, Elba, Lyndonville, and Notre Dame – all tough opponents.
3.) Notre Dame
Notre Dame briefly fell out of the Power 5, but with a few straight offensive explosions, they have forced their way back to the #3 spot. However, things won’t be easy for the Irish after the Holiday, as they have the Lions Club Tournament on December 28th, followed by games against Le Roy, Byron-Bergen, Attica, Oakfield, Pembroke, and Prattsburgh.
2.) Elba
Elba continues to impress with win, after win. Behind a strong defense, and much improved offense, this team should be able to compete with any team on their schedule.
1.) Attica
After a tough loss to Oakfield a few weeks ago, the Blue Devils have righted the ship. However, a tough stretch awaits them after Christmas with their own Holiday Tournament, and then matchups with Lyndonville, Notre Dame, and Elba. The next few weeks will show us who the Devils truly are.
