Allen Chatt

Oakfield Football – QB/DB

Year: Junior

In this week’s GR Spotlight is Oakfield quarterback Allen Chatt. The Junior, who won last week’s MVP award voted on by the fans, finished Week 3 with a game for the ages. Last night, I asked him a few questions about his team and his recent effort on the field:

AB: Have you ever had a day like that where you pretty much take the game over? In any sport?

AC: “My last season of JV basketball I played pretty well, but I can’t take all the credit for last week. It was the job up front from my line that made it possible. Justin Hinman, Casey Arnold, Devon Schroeder, Ryan Hernandez, Tyler Hamm, and Zac Tacy gave me the most time they ever have and I just made the best of it.”

AB: Did your coaches have anything to say to you after such a big game?

AC: “They couldn’t have been happier with my performance. Coach Palone told me he was very proud, that all my work is starting to pay off and that he wants me to play like that every game.”

AB: Who has pushed you the most over the years in all sports?

AC: “All my coaches set goals for all of us, but in the end, it’s only yourself who can determine if you want to work to be the best or not. ”

AB: With that huge win to remain in second place, now tied with Elba who you face this week, how important is your matchup with them this weekend?

AC: “This weekend isn’t just for second place, it’s for us to show the league who we really are. True contenders. Our offense has exploded the past two weeks, and our defense has gotten plenty of tackles for losses. Every kid on our team has heart and everyone has been playing to their full potential.”

AB: Last question: Is there anything you want to accomplish this year, individually or team-based?

AC: “Sectionals. That’s our goal. Oakfield hasn’t been there in a few years and we plan to be the team to bring it back.”

The Hornets are ready and confident heading into their matchup with the Lancers and it will certainly be a fun game to watch. Meanwhile, Elba-OA is in the lead in our voting for Week 4 Game of the Week. Vote now!!
