The Oakfield offense was in an incredible groove tonight, defeating the Hawks with touchdowns in their passing and running game, as well as on defense. Leading the Hornets were QB Allen Chatt and his WR Reice Woodward, who each finished with three touchdowns a piece.

Leading off the scoring for OA tonight, Jacob Natalizia was able to find the end zone following a hard six-yard run which gave his team the early 6-0 lead. Shortly thereafter, another Oakfield touchdown extended their advantage, as Chatt found Woodward for the duo’s first connection of the night. Following a quick punt on the Hawks’ ensuing possession, they were able to hook up once again for their second touchdown, as Woodward snagged a 55-yard pass from Chatt and found his way into the end zone.

After the dust settled in the wake of the Hornets’ three swift scores, the Hawks had taken a punch in the face just minutes into the game. As the first quarter came to a close, the score was 18-0 in favor of OA, and the rout was on.

To begin the second, Oakfield continued to pour it on, as Ryan Emery took a 50-yard run all the way to the end zone for another touchdown. With the score now at 24-0, the four-possession lead would be all the Hornets would need. The game ended with a final of 54-19, as Oakfield had found a way to come back after a few consecutive disappointing losses the past couple of weeks.

As I mentioned before, leading the Hornets in this one were Allen Chatt and Reice Woodward. With help from the incredible play from their offensive line, these two had a night to remember.

Chatt, who finished 8/12 for 230 yards and the three scores of 20, 55, and 64 yards, worked Woodward’s matchup all night long. The athletic wideout totaled 168 yards receiving against Holley, while also catching each of Chatt’s touchdowns. Accompanying the dynamic-duo, Ryan Emery also had an incredible night for OA, accumulating 137 yards on the ground while also scoring two touchdowns of 50 and 54 yards. Rounding out the Hornets’ offensive performance, Jon Harris had 8 carries for 30 yards, and Sal Schwable had 2 catches for 54 yards.

Defensively for Oakfield, it was a complete team effort.

Jake Velletta led the team with 8 tackles and 1 sack, while Casey Arnold also had a strong night with 7 total tackles. Tyler Hamm also contributed with a nice game, grabbing a sack as well as 4 tackles against the Hawks. Woodward added to his incredible day on offense with a nice interception, and Schwable made his mark, recovering a fumble and taking it 60 yards to the house for a touchdown.

This win was exactly what the Hornets needed to get back into the swing of things and will look to build on the momentum in the coming weeks. Now with the proverbial monkey off their back, Oakfield can continue to play football and make a push towards the postseason.

Stay tuned for the rest of the post game reports tomorrow morning!!
