The Pembroke Girls Basketball team played a complete game last night in order to move past Division-leading Alexander by a final score of 41-31. Gaining the lead early-on, the Dragons were able to use sound defense, and strong rebounding in order to maintain their advantage throughout the game – eventually winning the game by 10 points.

Highlighting the big win for the Dragons was Batavia’s Best of the Night recipient Aralyse Johnson, as she scored 19 points to go with 12 rebounds to lead all scorers. In addition to Johnson’s fine performance, despite only scoring 3 points, the Dragons’ Hannah Duttweiler grabbed 10 rebounds, while Emma Patterson secured 11.

For Alexander in the loss, Olivia George led the way with 10 points, but was in foul trouble during the second half. The Trojans truly struggled from the field all night long due to the impressive defense on part of Pembroke, which resulted in their eventual demise.

It was an odd game for Alexander, as the emotion that they needed to win the game seemed to be absent from the opening tip. On the other hand, Pembroke earned this one with their great energy and hustle.
