As we reported months ago, before it was shot down by each school district, the Oakfield and Elba football programs are set to work towards a merger in the coming weeks. Here is a statement from the Elba School District via their Facebook page:
“As a result of individual conversations and community meetings held on January 13th, a clear direction for Elba football is now set. Elba’s SOAR (Shared Opportunities And Resources) committee of Board members Tony Zambito, Mike Riner, Mike Augello, Athletic Director Karen Cusmano and Superintendent Keith Palmer, will be meeting with Oakfield-Alabama’s SOAR committee on Thursday, February 11th with hopes of forming a partnership. Updates will be posted as progress is made.”
Stay tuned as we receive those updates.
