Administrators from Elba and Oakfield High School reached out to me this afternoon in order to deny the previous report of the two schools being set to agree on a football merger.
Elba Superintendent Keith Palmer expressed via email, “Though we have a positive relationship with Oakfield-Alabama, no decision has been made, nor conversations held between our two schools regarding a football merger. We will be reviewing our options in the near future and determine how we can best provide opportunities for our students.”
Likewise via email, Oakfield Athletic Director Jeff Schlagenhauf wrote, “There have been no discussions at this time.”
Stay tuned for more as I obtain further information.
