Here is my Daily Fantasy Baseball Start/Sit list  for Friday, August 14, 2015 (cost based on DraftKings.com):

———-

Start

troutMike Trout, OF (LAA) $5,100: As most baseball fans know there isn’t very many matchup that aren’t favorable to Trout.  This matchup is particularly favorable for the Angels slugger.  Trout in his career has only faced the Royals probable starter Danny Duffy 3 times going 1-3, however one of those ABs ended in a solo HR.  Trout has also put up unbelievable numbers on the road batting .324 with 16 HRs and 39 RBIs in 52 games.  This plus the traditional matchup that favors most right handed hitters against left handed pitchers means a big day is likely in order for Mike Trout.

longoriaEvan Longoria, 3B (TB) $4,100: Longoria hasn’t been up to the caliber that most have come to expect from him however today he is presented with a great matchup.  Longoria faces lefty Martin Perez who he has crushed in their prior meetings going 3-4 with a HR.  On top of that Longoria has smashed left handed pitchers this season batting .337 in 89 ABs.  This should result in a great day for Longo and his owners.

Chris Bassitt, P (OAK) $6,300: Bassitt presents a great value as a cheap option at pitcher.  Bassitt who recently became a starter for Oakland has been lights out in his last 2 starts combining to go 13.2 IP with 17Ks, with only 1 ER on 8 hits and only 4 walks.  Making this matchup even more appealing is that one of those 2 starts came against the Baltimore Orioles, his opponent in today’s contest.  Even better is that Bassitt has yet to allow more than 3 runs in any of his 7 starts to this point.  This makes Bassitt a great cheap option at pitcher and allows you to stack your lineup with even better hitters. (Like the 2 mentioned above.)

Sit

Manny MachadoManny Machado, 3B (BAL) $4,700: Machado is very highly valued in price and there isn’t much reason to back it up.  Machado against the A’s this year is batting just .233 after batting just .238 last year against Oakland.  On top of that Chris Bassit had success against Machado in their first meeting 10 days ago, holding him to 1-3 with a single.  Machado’s struggles against Oakland and Bassit combined with his steep price (3rd highest valued 3B) should have keeping him out of your lineup.

Dodger-Killer, Paul GoldschmidtPaul Goldschmidt, 1B (ARI) $5,200: Arguably the best hitter in baseball this season doesn’t run into many pitchers he can’t handle.  However Goldy takes on a pitcher that has had his number in their career matchups.  Julio Teheran takes the mound for the Atlanta Braves and he has had Goldschmidt’s number.  Goldschmidt is hitless in 9 ABs against Teheran with 4 Ks.  This combined with his average numbers against the entire Braves staff this season, .250 BA make the number 1 ranked 1B a sit tonight.

lorenzo cainLorenzo Cain, OF (KC) $4,900: Cain has had a breakout campaign to this point but, similar to Goldy he faces a pitcher that he has had problems figuring out in his career.  Cain takes on Angels’ pitcher Jered Weaver who he is 1-6 lifetime with 5 Ks and a BB.  Those numbers should keep you away from the All-Star OF, especially at this top tier price.
