The NFL season returns tonight with the Thursday Night opener between the Broncos and Panthers, and to be blunt –

I can’t #$%&*@! wait.

I mean let’s just be honest with ourselves here, when it comes to watching sports – Football is king. The excitement, drama, and competition which is put on the field each and every game is second-to-none and cannot be duplicated by the many other sports that are available to the masses.

Football is the best.

Having said that, however, with all of the aging superstars that don NFL rosters, and those that have already retired, the NFL that we will be watching this year will be far different than what we have grown accustomed to over the past many years.

Cam Newton is now the best quarterback in the league, Todd Gurley is turning into the best running back in the league, and O’Dell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins are now firmly planted as the NFL’s top-wideouts. That’s a far cry from the days when Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson (still is up there), and Brandon Marshall were atop their respective positional fantasy rankings. A changing of the guard, if you will.

In most cases, this drastic change would frighten me and cause me to be concerned with the future of my favorite sport to watch. For unfamiliarity is not always a welcome sight. But not this time. This time around, I believe with all of the budding superstars that litter the NFL, we are in store for an exciting season – not only in 2016-2017 – but far into the future as well.

You thought we were blessed the past several years with Peyton Manning, Steven Jackson, and Randy Moss? Wait until Cam, Gurley, and ODB are a bit deeper into their prime.

It’s sure to be more exciting than ever.
