Oakfield Football – 6 seasons as head coach

Favorite thing about High School Sports: I enjoy helping teach my players about life through the game of football. I also enjoy the community support and the connections you develop over time.

AB: What has impressed you most about your group this season?

BP: “I am impressed with my players playing hard every game and giving us a chance to win each week this year. It was a difficult stretch, being so close in several games and having a chance to make sectionals.

AB: How have your leaders helped you work through a tough stretch a few weeks back? Any individuals who have really stepped up in that respect?

BP: Casey Arnold I feel has really stepped up, and a few other Seniors as well, as they know their playing time is coming to a end.”

AB: Going forward, what will it take to pull out a win during the final week of the season?

BP: “We are going to have to play a great game vs Attica if we are to win. We have to stop their run game and get first downs on offense. They are a very good football team.”

AB: What are your Sectional chances this year? Do you consider this season a success for your team thus far?

BP: “It was a successful season. I feel we were in every game and our program has improved a lot in the last few years.

AB: What does it mean to be an Oakfield Hornet? How has your football tradition expanded over the years?

BP: “There is a lot of tradition at OA and being a Hornet means to keep that pride and tradition up if you play for our school. At the end of the day I want the players to have had fun, made memories and friends, as well as learn how to become men through the game of football. I feel this team has got the respect and the tradition of OA football back again.”

After a tough ending to an overall impressive season, the Hornets will be held without a trip to the Sectional tournament this year but will be coming back as strong as ever next year to make another push at the postseason. With several high-quality players returning, the future is bright for coach Palone and his crew.
