Throughout the countless times that I have seen Josh play over the past few seasons, I have come to appreciate his ability to improve his game with each passing year. As a youngster on JV years ago, although Josh was almost always the best player on the court, he seemed to lack the overall ability that he possesses at this time. Since then, the 6’0″ Senior has been able to improve upon his ball handling, as well as adding considerable range to his jumper to the point he is shooting 43% from 3-pt this season (MaxPreps). All in all, I expect Johnson to continue to lead the Fighting Irish as they make yet another run at a Sectional Title. Here is his profile:

Height: 6’0″
Class: Senior

Favorite thing about high school sports: “The competiveness and the all-around love for the game.”

Most memorable moments of high school sports career: “Winning football Sectionals my Sophomore year and basketball Sectionals my Junior year and all the great accomplishments that were made along each journey. One memorable moment that sticks out was my sophomore year on JV Basketball when I scored 41 points in a game.”

Future plans after high school: “Go to college and study sports management.”

AB: Who inspired you as you grew up as an athlete?

JJ: Mainly my dad because I always wanted to make him proud and have him say, “yeah that’s my kid out there.” Also my cousin, Justice Fagan, because ever since we were little we were competitive whether it was playing 1 on 1 in the driveway, a game of 21, throwing the football, whatever – we were always competitive.

AB: Have there been any challenges that you have overcome which have helped you develop into the athlete you are today?

JJ: No, not really except for the fact I push myself every day to be better than the day before.

AB: What relationships have you built along the way that have directly led to your success as a player?

JJ: I’ve built some great relationships with coaches, fans, and teammates over the past 4 years. I wouldn’t trade anything for the relationships I’ve built over my high school sports career.

AB: Is there any sort of routine you endure during the offseason in order to better your game?

JJ: My main thing is the offseason is to make sure I stay active everyday. No days off. Run, throw the football around, play hoops at the park, whatever to make sure I stay active.

AB: Finally, what do you aspire to accomplish as an athlete?

JJ: I have already accomplished some main goals already, but the sky’s the limit. I have some personal goals, but there’s one goal this year with my team and that’s to get back to Blue Cross. You best believe it is going to take something real special to stop me from getting there. Go Irish!

Being a two-sport athlete, Josh has also been able to expand upon his athleticism over the past few years despite it already being his greatest strength. With one last chance to make a name for himself while playing HS Sports, expect Johnson to put forth a great effort down the stretch for his team. Good luck to Josh and the entire Notre Dame Basketball team as they approach the final weeks of the season!!
