Sam Browne

Alexander Football – WR/DB

Year: Senior

Post-high school plans: Plans to join the Army and become a State Trooper.

Favorite thing about high school sports: “Being together with all my friends and competing to be the best team with them.”

AB: After the touchdown on the punt return last week, what was the feeling like knowing you had put your team ahead on such a big play?

SB: “It was surreal. Being given the opportunity to give my team confidence and pump them up just 5 plays into the game was awesome.”

AB: What has gone into your success on the football field?

SB: “A mixture of extra work on the field and extra time in the weight room. I always set impossible goals for myself and I strive to be the best I can be and work as hard as I can to reach that goal. Some of my goals for this year have been to let up no passing touchdowns on defense, to beat my old record for punt returns, and just never let anyone beat me in a 1 on 1 matchup.”

AB: What is it like playing with your brother (Jared plays QB)?

SB: “Honestly, at first it was weird. Being brothers, some of the stuff he would do would irritate me in the beginning, but once game time hit my mindset changed. I realized if I helped him out, and we trusted in each other, we would make an unstoppable connection and I have grown to really enjoy it.”

AB: Outside of the locker room, who has helped you along the way to becoming the player you are today?

SB: “Without a doubt, my dad and sister. My dad always tells me what I can do to better myself, yet compliments me on my games and is always there. My sister always helps me along the way if I’m frustrated and upset with my performance. She always tells me how good I was and the positives of the game. They have both been so good to me throughout my time playing sports.”

AB: Last question: what does Alexander football mean to you?

SB: “It means a lot. I feel like after last year, with how good we did, everyone feels like we can never repeat that. I feel like we can and I want to prove it.”
