Damian’s 2016 season brought him all the way to the state championships. Here is his profile:
Damian Marchetti – Attica High School – Wrestling
AB: How do you feel your season went this season? Do you feel you accomplished all you set out to accomplish?
DM: I felt my season went pretty good this year I was able to win my first super sectional title and make the state tournament. I felt that I accomplished many things this season the only thing I wasn’t able to accomplish was getting into the podium at states.
AB: What were the toughest times you went through this season?
DM: The toughest time I had to go through this season would have to be right before my finals match at super sectionals with everything racing through my head and having to deal with all the nervousness.
AB: What helped you work through those tough times?
DM: What really helped me this season was the drive to make it to the state tournament. My coaches also pushed me everyday to do the best I can.
AB: What do you do on a daily basis in practice to become a better wrestler?
DM: On a daily basis we go through about an hour of drilling and then we wrestle live for about 15 minutes and then of then conditioning after practice for whoever wants to do it.
AB: Finally, what will you miss most about wrestling?
DM: The thing I will miss the most about wrestling is the competition and the hard work you put in to become successful.
