Following a long lightning delay which occurred during halftime of Friday’s contest between the Lancers and Dragons, Elba was able to carry their momentum over from the previous day, and complete the fourteen point victory over Pembroke on the road.

To begin the game on Friday night, a new look Pembroke football squad came out firing on all cylinders during their first drive, completing it with a touchdown to put themselves ahead 7-0 early on. Shortly after, however, the Lancers were able to get on a roll of their own offensively, as they quickly tied the ballgame following the long Pembroke first drive.

After they evened the score, Elba never looked back.

Due in large part to a Mike Shanley 89-yard touchdown run, the Lancers snatched the lead late in the first half, and were able to hold it over the course of the next two quarters, which were completed the next day.

“It was an interesting two-day game scenario,” said Elba head coach Mike Cintorino following the conclusion of the game. “We still have some work to do, but we are looking forward to getting back to work next week, as we return home to face Holley on Saturday afternoon.”

Elba’s Richard Flores also experienced success on the ground versus Pembroke, totaling 95 yards on 8 carries.

Defensively Andrew Gottler paced Elba, recording 7 total tackles while also totaling 2.5 sacks. Gottler forced a key fumble against the Dragons as well, and Steele Truax led the team with 10 total tackles.
