Over the past few years of Genesee Region League Girls Basketball, Abbie has been one of the top players in the area. Putting up impressive point totals (including 30+ earlier this season), as well as playing solid interior defense, it is no surprise the Bees sit on top of their Divisional Standings, and looking ahead, I expect Abbie to continue to do great things. Here is her profile:

Height: 6’0″
Class: Senior

Favorite thing about high school sports: “My favorite thing about high school sports is that being from such a small school most of my friends are on my team. They’re on the court competing with me and winning with me. We’re making so many memories with not only my team but with my best friends as well.”

Most memorable moments of high school sports career: “Winning volleyball Sectionals twice (2013,2014). 2nd team All- State selection for volleyball (2014). Beating Elba twice in basketball (2014, 2015). 7th team All State selection for basketball (2013).”

Future plans after high school: “I plan on attending GCC then transferring to the University of Buffalo to major in Nuclear Medicine Technology.”

AB: Who was your sports hero? In other words, who inspired you to become an athlete when you were younger?

AK: My sports hero is my older brother David. Growing up with him and all his friends and seeing how much fun they were having just shooting hoops in the driveway looked so awesome. And being that little sister I wanted to be just like him. As we grew up, he saw that I wanted to be an athlete, just like everyone else in my family and helped me along the way and helped me become the player I am today.

AB: What, if anything, makes you nervous while on the court?

AK: I think the only thing that makes me nervous while competing is not doing absolutely everything I possibly can to help my team propel ourselves over our opponent.

AB: Outside of the sports you already play, are there any others you wish you would have played growing up?

AK: I would’ve loved to try lacrosse growing up, I wish our school offered it I would’ve loved to play!

AB: Outside of sports, how else do you like to spend your time?

AK: I love to spend time with my friends, family and boyfriend. I love to fish, play AAU basketball in the summer, ski and watch movies.

AB: What has been your most impressive accomplishment in athletics?

AK: I think my biggest sports accomplishment is that the younger, up and coming athletes in school look up to me as a role model. That they want to be doing just what I’m doing when they are my age. They want to play basketball and volleyball and want that feeling of being successful just from watching my team and I play.

As the Bees approach the final few weeks of the season, their 6’0″ Senior forward is certain to play a large role in whether or not they are able to advance to the deeper rounds of the  Sectional tournament. Good luck to Abbie and the entire B-B Girls Basketball team as they approach the postseason!!
