#5 Attica will head on the road to #4 Dansville tomorrow night for their second road game against the Mustangs this season. It will be a tough trip down the 390 for the Blue Devils, however, I expect them to compete strongly in their quarterfinal matchup. Elsewhere in Class B2, #7 Le Roy will travel to #2 North Rose-Wolcott, where I believe they will have to bring their best effort in order to advance. Here are a couple of brief scouting reports on the opposing teams:

Dansville

2015 Dansville Mustangs

– Limited size

– Overall 12-7 this season

– Attica won the previous matchup between the two teams by a score of 59-54

– Led by Derek Wampole (11.6) and Jordan Douglas (13.7)

– Shoot 65% from the free throw line

– Shoot 31% from beyond the arc

North Rose-Wolcott

– Well-sized, although they don’t have anyone who is massive (several players between 6’0″ and 6’4″)

– Sophomore Tyler Norris is a quality all-around player with decent size (6’2″). The Cougars like to go through him

– Their big men down low battle for rebounds. Several points off put backs vs Kendall earlier in the year

At the conclusion of Friday night, I believe we will see Attica advance, while Le Roy – in my opinion – will simply be overcome by a better team in NRW.

Attica has size and strength all over the court, and their point guard Colden George has truly emerged as a quality offensive option throughout the course of this season. He, along with Sophomore Owen Thompson, should be enough to will the Devils past the Mustangs as the underdog.

In other action within Attica’s half of Class B2, #1 Wellsville will face-off with #8 Midlakes to see who will advance to the semis – where the Blue Devils hope to be waiting for them.

For Le Roy, although NRW is not unbeatable, I just believe Norris’ ability along with the Cougars’ strength along the interior will be too much for the Knights to overcome.

Elsewhere, if Le Roy is to pull the upset on Friday, they will advance to face the winner of #3 Marcus Whitman and #6 Bath Haverling – who also play tomorrow.

Stay tuned as we continue our coverage of the Section V Boys Basketball Tournament throughout the coming weeks.
